AMR National Grid Metering contract

AMR National Grid Metering contract awarded to Technolog. National Grid Metering (NGM), a subsidiary of National Grid, has awarded a contract to Technolog.  This will be to provide and install an Automated Meter Reading device on Industrial and Commercial gas meters across the UK.

Automated Meter Reading (AMR) enables customers to keep track of their energy use.  This helps them make decisions on when and how they use energy.

The Government requires the largest gas consumers (those using more than 732,000 kWh p.a.) to have an AMR device installed on their gas meter by April 2014. All remaining Industrial and Commercial meters will require AMR by 2019.

Technolog will supply and install its meter reading device named the Cello to capture meter readings and consumption data to send on to customers of National Grid Metering.

National Grid Metering provides a national metering service and can efficiently support customers who have nationwide business portfolios. Its national footprint means customers can have AMR devices installed in a timely manner in accordance with the Government requirement.

Martin Cook, Head of Industrial and Commercial Metering at National Grid Metering said:

“The Cello is a great device for consumers to manage their gas consumption, reduce their carbon emissions and save money.
We are constantly looking for ways to innovate and improve.  And are delighted to be working with Technolog and to offer this exciting new service.”
